Indigenous Veterans Day

Today, on November 8, we pay tribute to and honour Indigenous Veterans Day. This day was first established in Manitoba in 1994 and has since spread across the country. We take time to reflect and remember the important contributions and sacrifices made by First Nation, Métis and Inuit in recognition of their military services in Canada. As we reflect, we remember those who lost their lives and the many challenges that Indigenous People faced in order to serve. They often travelled great distances from their remote communities, learned new languages and had to adapt to cultural differences. Learn more in the blog post shared by Bob Joseph last November.

Kind Words

“I purposely chose Rise because I knew they would walk us through this challenging journey. The team at Rise became a partner and confidant. We created relationships beyond “the work.”  That’s really important. Rise provided the long-term relationship and safe space needed to do this work meaningfully.”

Michelle Reid, Manager Indigenous Reconciliation, BDC
