About Us

Created in 2013, we’re an Indigenous-owned national management consultancy supporting Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. Our experienced team delivers advisory consulting services focused on advancing Truth, Reconciliation and Indigenous inclusion within each practice area at Rise – leadership, workforce, supply chain, community relations, business development, sustainability and ESG in the corporate, public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

We recognize the importance of Indigenous participation in Canada’s economy and accept the invitation from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada to redress the legacy of Residential Schools and advance the progress of Reconciliation through participation in Call to Action 92. We integrate the principles of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (UNDRIPA) into our work, particularly the rights to self-determination, autonomy, and economic sovereignty (Articles 3 and 4).

We embed the Calls for Justice from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG2S+) into our practices. We prioritize education and awareness through Call for Justice 1.1 and 1.8, ensuring our team and clients are informed about MMIWG2S+ and actively honour days of remembrance. Through Call for Justice 2.2, we offer learning sessions on language revitalization, place-keeping, and Indigenous Matriarchy and Leadership. Our commitment to Call for Justice 3.2 and 3.4 drives our support for Indigenous-led, culturally appropriate health and wellness services, ensuring survivors of trauma receive accessible and holistic care.

Economic Reconciliation requires tangible action. In alignment with Calls to Economic Prosperity 4, 5, 91, and 92, set by The National Indigenous Economic Strategy, we help Indigenous businesses access capital and resources while fostering reciprocal partnerships based on Right Relations. We also advocate for increased Indigenous participation in STEM and post-secondary education through Calls to Economic Prosperity 14 and 16, recognizing these investments as essential to long-term economic empowerment.

We uphold the First Nations Principles of Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP®), ensuring that Indigenous Peoples maintain sovereignty over their data, knowledge systems, and ways of being. This framework guides our research and data governance, ensuring our work remains ethical, transparent, and accountable to those we serve. By adhering to OCAP®, we honour the right of Indigenous communities to define how their information is collected, used, and shared.

By embedding these commitments into our operations, Rise Consulting is dedicated to our core tenet, “nothing about you, without out you”, centering the voices of Indigenous Peoples and learnings from foundational documents that support the journey of making Reconciliation a lived reality – one that extends beyond words into action. This is our way of being at Rise, and we are honoured to weave it into the work we’re invited to participate in with our clients.

Purpose, Mission and Vision

Our purpose is to support the rising presence of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

Our mission is to foster meaningful relationships built on trust and respect, bringing together Indigenous and corporate communities in Canada to create shared value.

Our vision is a future where one group’s prosperity doesn’t come at the expense of another’s rights or well-being.

Our Values

Kindness is our culture. We foster a space of honesty, respect and empathy. We act with integrity in all that we do.

Trust is built, evolves over time, and forms stable relationships; it’s the bridge between the unknown and the known. We are vulnerable, act in good faith, have each other’s best interests in mind, and trust that everyone is doing their best.

Community and our relationships are paramount. Our tenet is “nothing about you, without you,” as we keep community front and centre. Reconciliation is relationships. It is the coming together of our systems, institutions, and organizations, creating a more equitable and inclusive society for all.

Courage to speak and act – even when it may be uncomfortable. We give to each other as we stand together in Reconciliation. We have agency to be, and ownership to do while staying true to ourselves.

Shared Value is understanding our own unique values and those of others. We collaborate to create sustainable, shared value. Shared value is what connects us and supports the creation of equitable and inclusive outcomes.

Knowledge is a gift that we receive and share. Reflected in the Seven Sacred Teachings, “to cherish knowledge is to know wisdom” and it is with gratitude that we listen, build and share knowledge.
